President Stolz Telecom Companies Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety is a multiservice public safety organization with about 1,500 employees. The department had an aging VHF low-band LMR system and experienced problems with coverage across one-third of the state. Stolz Telecom worked with the department to deploy a 700 MHz Project 25 (P25) voted multicast solution. Stolz designed a coverage plan with 35 sites covering 210,000 square miles. Texas County, Oklahoma, plans to join the DPS P25 conventional network through an inexpensive equipment purchase. The county will gain interoperability with state public safety entities and have access to surrounding P25 trunked networks.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the challenges of common coverage issues, particularly in rural areas and evaluate solutions. There are many coverage options available, and attendees will learn about challenges and solutions that they can apply to their own coverage requirements.
Understand cost-effective network design. Participants will learn about the importance of network design to a successful radio network. They will better understand the components and requirements for a strong network design.
Implement a P25 coverage solution with flexibility and scalability. Implementation is a key part of a radio system, and public safety professionals will learn about best practices they can apply to their own radio networks.
