Telecommunicators play a crucial role in emergency services by receiving and managing emergency calls, dispatching responders and providing critical information to those in need. However, today's telecommunicator market is facing a severe staffing shortage. Innovative ways to help fill this gap are being implemented, but it is key to address the physical and mental challenges that are often causing this issue. This presentation will address the status of the current market, different methods for addressing the staffing shortage, and telecommunicator challenges and solutions to help overcome them. This interactive presentation will include current research and insights from an E9-1-1 dispatcher.
