9-1-1 leadership often puts itself into very tight boxes about what we can and can't be. We complain about what is, but often don't give ourselves the latitude to imagine more. How can we dream bigger, reach farther and change ourselves and our 9-1-1 centers? By leading loudly. In this session, we will take on misconceptions about ourselves, our leadership and our work, and take the chance to reimagine what we can be.
Learning Objectives:
The learner will leave this presentation understanding that the paramilitary leadership we were taught from, doesn't have to be the leadership style that we grow into. We will discuss ways to break those strict chains and how we can venture outside of the box to create engagement in our center mission.
The learner will have three key ways they can become loud leaders by creating a culture of accountability, having the courage to change and do things differently than they always have been done AND to be kind. That it's really okay to treat people kindly and show your care and love for them in the 911 center.
The learner will hopefully leave with more confidence to change their behavior. The presenter will share their story and how it took work to become a leader who treats staff, co-workers and themselves with a little more kindness.
