Anthony ('Tony') LaPine's legacy as a trailblazer in Silicon Valley innovation is remarkable. His journey began at IBM, where he played a pivotal role in developing the original disk drive, a technological breakthrough that laid the groundwork for future advancements. Transitioning to Memorex as one of its founding members, Tony steered the company to success, culminating in its listing on the New York Stock Exchange.
Looking for a new challenge, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to the Presidency of Irwin Magnetics, where he orchestrated a successful initial public offering (IPO) and subsequent acquisition by Seagate. Driven by his vision of the future, Tony embarked on a new venture, founding LTC. This storage enterprise experienced rapid growth before its acquisition by Kyocera, a testament to his ability to spot and capitalize on opportunities.
Retirement was not the end of Tony's journey. His unwavering commitment to innovation and his relentless pursuit of new opportunities led to the launch of one of the first Internet companies, DataLink. Harnessing the growth of the Internet boom, he took Datalink public, growing it to over a Billion dollars in value before its strategic acquisition by the Flint Telecom Group. Tony's passion for innovation was not quelled, leading him to launch Hiplink, where he has focused on pioneering Public Safety solutions.
Tony's academic achievements include a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Electrical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a testament to his commitment to excellence. He is a distinguished alumnus of the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
