Deputy Director
Harrisonburg-Rockingham ECC
HARRISONBURG, Virginia
Jesse Martin comes from a family with a strong history in public safety, which has shaped his career path. His grandmother was a pioneer in dispatching before the era of 9-1-1, his father was a county deputy and drug enforcement agent, and his mother was a firefighter in a male-dominated field. Jesse followed this path and became an EMT at 16. Later, he expanded his skills as a paramedic and Emergency Communications Officer before taking time away from public safety to pursue other interests.
His passion for process improvement, innovation, and leadership development led him to become the Senior Managing Consultant for North American Operations at the Kaizen Institute and the Director of Clinical Intelligence and Implementation at a leading occupational healthcare organization. However, Jesse's love for public safety never faded away, and he eventually returned to emergency communications as the Deputy Director of Technology at the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Emergency Communications Center.
Jesse is a Master Practitioner of the Kirton-Adaptation Innovation Inventory, which gives him a unique perspective on team dynamics and problem-solving. His ability to navigate complex challenges and lead significant change initiatives underscores his innovative and effective leadership approach.
As a sought-after keynote speaker and workshop facilitator, Jesse's passion for emergency services, unique presentation style, and humor make him engaging and insightful. His core values—assuming positive intent, seeking to understand, being one team, and leaving things better—resonate with professionals in emergency management and public safety. Jesse embodies the power of commitment, hard work, and the enduring impact of serving others while aligning peace, persistence, and passion to achieve great things.
