Public safety emergency communication centers (ECCs) are one of the most stressful work environments, consistently ranking in the top ten. It is not uncommon for ECCs to have high turnover and be understaffed. Assisted artificial intelligence, real-time transcription can reduce stress by providing tools that reduce miscommunication and missed communication. We will review case studies showing how ECCs are successfully using these tools to increase the efficiency and timeliness of coordinated responses, assist trainees in developing the "radio-ear", and simultaneously monitor multiple radio channels and prioritize responses based on keyword identification.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to compare traditional Dispatcher training methods to the use of AI Assisted, Real-Time Transcription. Not only is the training time shorter, but the Dispatcher Trainee has also increased confidence with access to the real-time transcriptions. Dispatch Trainers and Supervisors will also be able to prioritize support based on the nature of the call and monitoring the key word alerts. Given that all the transcriptions are saved, there is an opportunity to revisit communications and assess performance.
The participant will learn how to create a Key Word Notification glossary and how this reduces the risk of missed communication.
The participant will learn how the acoustic language model is capable of handling multi-languages. Specifically, the session will look at some of the work that has been done in English and Spanish.
