A "sentinel event" (SE) is a significant, unexpected, negative outcome that's indicative of wider systemic problems. Since the SE Initiative was launched in 2019, the majority of investigations have centered on the law enforcement profession. However, recent SEs and their reported recommendations have included 9-1-1 professionals. This presentation will highlight the SE process and purpose, encouraging attendees to apply similar organizational resilience procedures.
