David is the Director of Research Initiatives and Education at Sky Factory, a fine arts and digital technology studio that leverages neuroaesthetics (the application of sensory patterns to foster positive occupant outcomes) in its design framework. He is a research fellow at The Centre for Conscious Design, a member of the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture (ANFA) and The Center for Health Design. He was awarded a Certificate of Research Excellence (CORE) from the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) in 2017.
He is the author of multiple courses for professionals approved for CEU credit by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC), and the Patient Experience Institute (PXI). David has presented Sky Factory’s research at leading healthcare design forums, including the European Healthcare Design Conference, Planetree, and the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture.
He’s the authored of in-depth articles on Cognitive Biophilia for diverse architectural design and healthcare publications, including the Conscious Cities Journal and Conscious Cities Anthology (2018, 2020), Oculus, Radiology Today, Reflexion, Salus Global Journal, and Work/Design magazine.
David spearheads research partnerships with hospitals, public and private health organizations, and professional researchers in the areas of environmental and healthcare design. He holds an MBA from MIU and a M.Sc. from Boston University.
