Emily was a Police Service Representative with the Los Angeles Police Department where she worked in the capacity of an emergency operator and police dispatcher for the 16 years. Using her experience as a public safety telecommunicator, Emily founded Gold Line Positive Solutions, a consultation and training company that specializes in positive interventions for public safety organizations. In addition, she works full-time as a Management Assistant for the Office of the City Administrative Officer for the City of Los Angeles in the Equity, Performance Management and Innovation group. She is part of the efforts to develop an alternative crisis response framework for the City of Los Angeles. Emily received her B.A. in Psychology from California Lutheran University and is currently working on her PhD in Positive Organizational Psychology at Claremont Graduate University. Guided by personal experience, her research is focused on the emotional labor of first responders and the development of practices to preserve and enhance their well-being. She has co-authored a chapter titled "Promoting Optimal Well-Being Among Law Enforcement Employees". She has spoken at the CALNENA, NENA and APCO Conferences in 2022 and 2023 speaking on topics related to Emotional Labor and Psychological Capital.
