Cornelia Sigworth is the Senior Director for Strategic Engagement at Axon. She is responsible for developing strategic customer and partner relationships, identifying and sharing best practices, and serves as the lead on Axon’s Moonshot effort to cut gun related deaths between the police and the public by 50% in the next 10 years. She comes to Axon with over 25 years of service within the United States Department of Justice.
At DOJ she served as the Associate Deputy Director for Law Enforcement and Crime Reduction with the US Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and as Senior Advisor/Chief of Staff to the BJA Director. Ms. Sigworth directed BJA’s law enforcement and justice and mental health work including its partnerships with local, state, and national policymakers and their efforts to combat violent crime, enhance prosecution practices, improve public safety responses and outcomes for individuals who come into contact with the criminal justice system, and improve business processes. She developed numerous national grant programs including BJA’s Crime Gun Intelligence Centers Program; Connect and Protect Mental Health Response Program, and the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative. Ms. Sigworth previously served in a variety of capacities within BJA including most recently as the Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Director for Policy and Director of the Violence Reduction Network. Ms. Sigworth began her career with The Department at the National Institute of Justice, where she managed national research, evaluation, and program development.
Ms. Sigworth holds a B.S. in Criminology from Northern Arizona University and a M.S. in Justice, Law, and Society from American University. She is a graduate of the Department of Justice’s Leadership Excellence and Achievement Program and the Harvard Kennedy School Senior Executive Fellows Program. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the FBI National Academy /National Executive Institute and the University of Chicago’s Police Leadership Academy. Among other honors, she is a recipient of the US Department of Justice’s Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service and Northern Arizona University’s Criminology Alumni of the Year Award.
