National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, District of Columbia
Brian Tegtmeyer, ENP (Emergency Number Professional) serves as the National 911 Program Coordinator at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of EMS (OEMS). He has more than 28 years of experience in public safety communications at the local, state and national level. Brian began his career as a dispatcher at an Illinois police department before serving in various leadership roles in 911 systems. His experience includes managing an Illinois 911 center with 44 agencies serving a population of more than 850,000 citizens. Brian spent over a decade as a national educator teaching public safety telecommunicator courses and has been an active member of multiple public safety organizations and various Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforces (TERT). Inspired by the ever-evolving landscape of emergency communications, Brian aspires to continually advance 911 across the U.S. through four areas of focus: Improving 911’s ability to impact Highway safety, impacting collaborating with stakeholders, connecting systems nationwide, and creating and sharing resources. In this way, the Program meets its mission of continually finding ways to advance 911 services to the Nation's communities
