With a career in public safety spanning over two decades, Morrissa Ahl-Moyer initially began as a volunteer EMT and subsequently transitioned to a dispatcher role at the city's 911 center. Later, she joined the NC State Highway Patrol, where she served as a Telecommunicator, Certified Training Officer, and Eastern Training Coordinator. Concurrently, Morrissa became a Peer Support Member and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University. More recently, after moving to a support staff position in NCSHP's Aviation section, Morrissa advanced to the Director position for the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons. Embracing the philosophy of a "seat for everyone," she advocates for collaboration among public safety dispatchers from various disciplines and agencies to foster mutual learning and growth. Morrissa feels fortunate to have presented classes at numerous APCO & NENA Conferences in 10 states, in addition to participating as a speaker at virtual conferences such as Gold Line and Dare to Be Great 5.
