Description: The Florida Highway Patrol operates Seven Regional Communications Centers located in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Sanford, Lake Worth, Miami, Ft. Myers, and Tampa. The Sanford Regional Communications Center (SRCC) provides professional dispatch services for nine State of Florida law enforcement agencies in the Central Florida area: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties. The Sanford Regional Communications Center is co-located with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Law Enforcement Division (FWCC) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The FDOT monitors cameras installed on the Interstates and other limited access roadways throughout central Florida. One of the advantages FHP dispatchers have by sharing a communications center with the FDOT, is that it allows the dispatcher to have a bird’s eye view of incidents, allowing for a more efficient field response. They can relay critical information to the troopers, officers, and fire department personnel. SLEDs handle all radio traffic, answer incoming calls from the motoring public, and process FCIC/NCIC requests. The SRCC answers *FHP (*347) phone calls and 911 transfers from local PSAPs.
